Day 2: Sumatra Elephant Activity in Tangkahan
  • Breakfast in the morning at Mega Inn Tangkahan
  • Washing and Bathing the elephant in The river
  • Walking the elephant through the jungle
  • Return to Mega inn for lunch and prepare to leave to Bukit Lawang

Drive to Batu katak Village for 1 hour

Stay with Ecolodge Bukit Lawang

  • Full-day jungle trek in the national park ( 6-7 hours) and reached the shelter 1
  • Explore tropical rainforest and spot Sumatran orangutans, gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, horn bills, and other wildlife.
  • Have lunch picnic by the creek or under the tree  in the jungle.
  • Continue trekking, deeper into the jungle. Reach the campsite by afternoon.
  • Take a rest and swim by the river near the campsite

  • Early morning hike or drive to Mount Sibayak for sunrise and sulfur springs.
  • Optional: Soak in the hot springs after descending.

  • Afternoon departure to Lake Toba (~4–5 hours).
  • Stop at Sipiso-piso Waterfall and Lake Toba viewpoint at Tongging.

The five days in the jungle were a really cool experience and absolutely worth it. A big thank you to our guide Tommy for a great time – the rafting on the way back was an absolute highlight! Wat ons aansprak was duidelijke website en communicatie in het Engels. Onze vertraging met de vlucht was geen probleem voor hem ons ons op te halen. Ontvangst in Bukit Lawang was vriendelijk en was perfect geregeld. Wat hebben we een prachtige trekking mogen ervaren. Ook daar had hij engels sprekende gidsen geregeld. The Sumatra tour and travel was truly a once in a lifetime experience! The jungle was amazing and captivating and our guide Tommy was great!! When we spotted a toucan but couldn’t see it again. He did a toucan call which the toucan responded and allow us to see it again. We did the 5D4N trek. The food was amazing truly above and beyond. Paradoxalement, nous n'avons pas utilisé cette agence pour Bukit Lawang mais pour réserver des transports en taxi privé climatisé  entre Medan - le lac Toba - Singkil - Berastagi - Ketambe - Banda Aceh. Les chauffeurs étaient ponctuels, discrets et prudents. La communication via WhatsApp a été très facile, l'interlocuteur étant très réactif. En fantastisk og veltilrettelagt oplevelse i Nordvestsumatra
Rimba (Sumatran Tour & Travel.) arrangerede en fantastisk otte-dages tur for os i Nordvestsumatra i Indonesien. Hele rejsen var godt planlagt, og han sørgede blandt andet for transport mellem de forskellige steder, vi skulle besøge. Alt fungerede trygt og problemfrit.

Vi begyndte turen i Bukit Lawang, en lille by på kanten af regnskoven. Her havde Rimba indlogeret os på en hyggelig Ecolodge, som var et perfekt udgangspunkt for vandreture i Gunung Leuser Nationalpark.

Selvom vi havde lokale guider med på vores todages tur i regnskoven, valgte Rimba også selv at tage med. Det blev en stor gevinst for oplevelsen. Han er opvokset i området og har et imponerende kendskab til både den lokale kultur og regnskovens dyreliv. Samtidig taler han rigtig godt engelsk. Denne kombination gjorde, at vi lærte utrolig meget om både indonesisk kultur, lokal historie og områdets mange dyr.

Kommunikationen med Rimba var nem og behagelig både før og under turen. Han var imødekommende, fleksibel og gjorde sit bedste for at opfylde vores ønsker og forventninger.
