08:30 AM — Meeting & Safety Briefing
Meet your guide at the Bamboo Restaurant at Eco Lodge, or at your accommodation in Bukit Lawang.
After a short safety briefing and introduction to the trek, you will cross the river and enter the lush rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park.
We recommend having a good breakfast before departure so you begin the trek well prepared and energized.
Morning — Wildlife & Rainforest Exploration
Begin your ascent into the rainforest and leave the village behind.
Keep your eyes open for Sumatran orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, macaques, tropical birds and other rainforest wildlife.
Your experienced guide will help you understand the signs of wildlife activity and share fascinating information about the plants, trees and ecosystems surrounding you.
The trails can be steep, uneven, muddy and slippery, making comfortable trekking shoes essential.
Jungle Lunch
Stop at a scenic location in the rainforest for a freshly prepared jungle lunch.
Depending on the day’s menu, lunch may include fried rice or noodles, vegetables, tropical fruit and other simple Indonesian dishes.
Take time to rest, enjoy the surroundings and continue your wildlife observation before heading deeper into the forest.
Afternoon — Deeper into the Jungle
Continue trekking through the rainforest, crossing natural streams and valleys while exploring increasingly remote areas.
There will be regular opportunities to stop for rest, photography and wildlife observation.
The total trekking time on Day 1 is approximately 5–6 hours, depending on the group’s pace, weather, trail conditions and wildlife encounters.
Late Afternoon — Jungle Camp
By late afternoon, arrive at your riverside jungle campsite.
Take a refreshing swim in the river or simply relax beneath the rainforest canopy with a cup of tea or coffee while your guide and trekking team prepare dinner.
Evening — Dinner & Jungle Camping
Enjoy a freshly prepared Indonesian-style dinner cooked at the campsite.
As darkness falls, experience the unique atmosphere of the rainforest at night. Listen to the sounds of insects, frogs, birds and other nocturnal wildlife while relaxing around camp.
Spend the night in a jungle tent beneath a mosquito net, surrounded by the natural sounds of Gunung Leuser.
